Founded under the name "Horst Kuprat KG" — the first customers come from the cement and chemical industries.
For 60 years, we have been active in all areas of the chemical industry, energy and power plant technology, the cement industry and in the field of aluminum and other ores or anodes. Our solutions are also used in every segment where reliable conveying, heat treatment, cooling, dosing, feeding of bulk solids or isolating process areas is important.

With a welding source of up to 600 amperes and a payload of up to 20 tonnes, we now weld even more efficiently and precisely. We easily handle workpieces up to 15 m in length.
Thanks to integrated laser measurement and transparent process monitoring, we guarantee the highest quality and repeatability. This means more capacity and planning reliability for your projects.

Founded under the name "Horst Kuprat KG" — the first customers come from the cement and chemical industries.

Takeover of the company by Anton J. Köllemann.

Entry into the production of screw heat exchangers.

Expansion of the product portfolio and customer base to include ore and mining as well as power plant construction.
Renamed A.J. Köllemann GmbH.

Introduction of computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering calculations (CAE).

Introduction of computer-programmable metalworking machines (CNC).
Further development of engineering towards the supply of complete solutions with the implementation of a production planning system (PPS).

Supply of water cooled screw coolers for the High-Temperature Winkler (HTW) pressurised gasification plant at Berrenrath, Germany. The machines discharge ash from the gasifier at an operating pressure of approximately 30 bar and inlet temperatures of around 1,000 °C.
This project gives rise to the core components of our present screw heat exchangers: the water cooled hollow flight, the water cooled tube trough and the purge gas supported high pressure shaft seal system.

Namesake Anton J. Köllemann retires from the company.

Research project “Taurus” – officially “Reduction of chromium VI in wood ashes” (AiF research project no. 12264) – carried out together with a technical university on the reduction of hexavalent chromium (chromium VI) in wood ashes.
Chromium VI is highly water-soluble and particularly harmful to the environment. Converting it into the far less problematic trivalent chromium allows the ashes to be disposed of or recycled more safely. KÖLLEMANN contributed its experience in the thermal treatment and conveying of bulk solids.

Introduction of 3D CAD: since then, machines and plants have been designed entirely in three dimensions. This enables better planning, more precise design and early coordination with our customers – collisions and connection dimensions are checked on screen long before manufacturing begins.

ASME certification obtained for the manufacture of pressure vessels according to the "ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code".

Addition of another production hall with a new horizontal CNC table boring mill especially for machining heavy and large components — mainly for spindling screw tubes and machining housings.

Takeover of the company by a group of investors and renaming to Köllemann GmbH.

The PPS system is replaced by an ERP system with special add-ons for more effective production control.
First certification according to ISO 9001:2008.

Manufacture of what was then the largest preheater in the world, with a capacity of 60 tonnes per hour, for a Chinese company from Yunnan. The preheater has a diameter of 950 mm and operates with four screw shafts with hollow flights, transferring around 3,500 kW of heat.

Re-certification for the manufacture of pressure vessels according to the "ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code sec. 8 div. 1".

Introduction of a plasma cutting system with a bevel head for bevel cuts and weld seam preparation.

Together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems, Köllemann develops a salt-based latent heat storage system.

Manufacture of a 60 m long trough screw conveyor including rotary valves for cement production in a record time of only 3 weeks following a major plant breakdown caused by building damage.
Development and patent application of the MTPM mixer.

Supply of a complete plant for cooling and crystallizing liquid high-temperature molten salt in Maasvlakte, the Netherlands – an entire cascade of crusher screws, cooling screws and finger crushers.
Design and manufacture of a pyrolysis plant including all feed silos and inlet and outlet screw conveyors for recovering oil and gas from plastic waste.
Manufacture of a screw system for conveying shotcrete and fine ore for the final storage of contaminated waste in a disused mine tunnel.

Project in southern Germany for sewage sludge drying using three thermal-oil-heated, self-cleaning double-trough heating screw conveyors.

Development of the world's first energy recovery system for the production of calcined clay – implemented at the Saint-Pierre-la-Cour cement plant in France. Waste heat from the production process is used there to dry the clay, significantly reducing energy consumption and CO₂ emissions.
Volker Kapteina leaves the company. Guido Fiedler takes over as Managing Director.
Certification of our environmental management system according to ISO 14001.
Major order from Holcim Czech Republic: the Čížkovice plant receives the second KÖLLEMANN heat recovery system for the production of calcined clay – following the successful project in Saint-Pierre-la-Cour.

Acquisition of a 10-axis welding robot, resulting in welds of excellent quality and high process reliability.

Development of the LiquiCore™ high-temperature screw heat exchanger. First test series for the thermal desorption of persistent pollutants.
The core business of KÖLLEMANN GmbH is the sale, development and manufacture of components for conveying, process and environmental technology.
