What does training at KÖLLEMANN look like?

We offer four apprenticeships per year. These young people starting their careers with us are individually supervised and supported by our trainers. Our aim is to take on our trainees after their graduation and to foster and accompany their professional development.

In order to further support the apprentices, we offer job-related on-the-job training once a week in the company, which goes beyond the learning content of the vocational school.

    How can I apply for an apprenticeship?

    You can apply for the advertised training position online, send your application documents by post or hand them in personally. The link to our online application can be found below the job advertisement.

    We are also happy to offer you the opportunity for a short internship so that you can gain a better insight into the upcoming challenges of the training profession.

    What graduation is required for an apprenticeship?

    For an apprenticeship, you should have a secondary school leaving certificate or a comparable qualification. You need a German language level certification of B1 or B2.

    When does the apprenticeship start?

    The training starts on 1st of August every year.

    At what time before the start of the training should I apply?

    We recommend that you send in your application at least half a year before the planned start of the training. The application deadline is 1st of July each year.

    What documents and papers are needed to apply for an apprenticeship?

    The application documents include:

    • a covering letter
    • your curriculum vitae
    • your last two school reports
    • certificates of German language level B 1 or B 2
    • certificates of internships, if applicable
    • a declaration of consent from your parents if you are a minor; please note that we cannot consider the application if the declaration of consent is missing.

    How long is the duration of an apprenticeship and are there ways to fast track the training?

    An apprenticeship usually lasts three to three and a half years. However, if the grades and the performance during the training are excellent, the training period can be shortened with the agreement of the vocational school and the training company.

    The vocational school is in Bad Neuenahr.

    How much leave do I get during my training period?

    You have 30 days of leave per year.

    What is the framework of an apprenticeship at Köllemann?

    The technical training takes place on three to four days a week at the company and one to two days at the vocational school. Before the intermediate and final exams there is inter-company training in electrical engineering, compressed air technology and hydraulics at the industrial training workshop (ILW) in Koblenz. In addition, we offer in-house training of two hours on two days a week by an experienced master craftsman/technician. Köllemann GmbH has been awarded special recognition by the IHK for the high quality of its training.

    Are there other additional training activities for apprentices?

    Köllemann supports projects at the vocational school through the voluntary participation of trainees and the provision of materials, most recently in the “telescope” project, which was reported on in the regional press.

    How much will I earn during my apprenticeship?

    Your training allowance is based on the current collective wage agreement between IG Metall and the employers’ association.

    What are the chances of being taken on after successful completion of my training?

    We cannot guarantee an employment in principle. However, in recent years we have been able to make an offer of permanent employment to all successful trainees.

    Can I start a technician or master craftsman after the training?

    Yes, we strongly support our employees in their educational process, and many have successfully taken this path. Currently one production employee is preparing for the in-service training course to become a “master craftsman”.

    What are my working hours like?

    You work a day shift with a 39-hour week.
